About the Founder

Scott brings over two decades of experience successfully investing in and helping businesses grow with purpose. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with founders and entrepreneurs—supporting them to build strong teams, improve operations, and scale in a thoughtful, sustainable way.

Prior to founding 1780 Capital, Scott spent nearly 20 years with Reynolda Equity Partners and Five Points Capital where he successfully invested more than $400 million across 30+ businesses. His background also includes experience in investment banking at Wachovia Securities (now Wells Fargo) and in financial leadership roles at General Electric. Scott earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Business Administration from Brigham Young University.

Scott lives in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He values his time with his wife, Alexis, and their four children. He is active in his church, serving in various leadership capacities, and enjoys working closely with other community organizations. He manages to exercise regularly, is an avid snow skier and water sports enthusiast and had one really good round of golf that keeps him coming back for more.
